Dalman was born and raised in South St. Cloud, graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School, then graduated from St. Cloud State University with a degree in English (emphasis on American and British literature) and mass communications (emphasis on print journalism). He studied in London, England for a year (1980-81) where he concentrated on British literature, political science, the history of Great Britain and wrote a book-length study of the British writer V.S. Naipaul. Dalman has been a reporter and weekly columnist for more than 30 years and worked for 16 of those years for the Alexandria Echo Press.
Wiese joined the Newsleaders staff in the fall of 2010. She graduated from St. Cloud Technical College with a degree in Advertising and Rasmussen College with a degree in Business Management and Office Administration. She has two daughters and resides in Sauk Rapids.
Gruber is the operations manager and a reporter for the Newsleaders. He grew up in Melrose, attended St. John’s University, spent over a year teaching English in China, and most recently worked as the morning producer at WDIO-TV in Duluth, where he won a 2014 Upper Midwest Emmy for daytime newscasts. Hilsgen is a reporter for the Newsleaders. The central Minnesota native is a wife, mother and grandmother. She has a B.A. degree from Concordia University – St. Paul and enjoys learning about and sharing other peoples’ stories through the pages of the Newsleaders.
Wright is the newest reporter for the Newsleaders. Born in Willmar, he moved with his family to Sartell when he was 5 and graduated high school in 2006. He attended St. Cloud State University in 2007 studying Mass Communication and Radio Broadcasting. Wright’s interest in news and reporting started at KVSC as an on-air DJ and continued at WJON as an interim reporter. When he gets time away from writing and studying, Wright enjoys playing and teaching guitar and playing with his favorite K9, Louie.
