The Newsleader staff, composed of three full-time and two part-time team members and numerous freelance writers/photographers/delivery drivers has more than 100 combined years of experience in the newspaper publishing/printing industry.

Von Pinnon has been publishing the St. Joseph Newsleader since 1989, the Sartell-St. Stephen Newsleader since 1995 and the Sauk Rapids-Rice Newsleader since 2015. She graduated from Minnesota State University-Moorhead with degrees in mass communications (with an emphasis on print journalism) and biology. She lives in southeast St. Cloud with her husband and two children.

Wiese joined the Newsleaders staff in the fall of 2010. She graduated from St. Cloud Technical College with a degree in Advertising and Rasmussen College with a degree in Business Management and Office Administration. She has two daughters and resides in Sauk Rapids.

Sehnert is the administrative assistant and a reporter for the Newsleaders. She grew up in Sartell and attended the College of St. Benedict. Sehnert has worked for the Newsleaders since 2015.

Angie Heckman

Heckman grew up in Cambridge. She earned her bachelors degree in teaching from St. Cloud State University in 1995. Heckman has been teaching art in the Sartell schools since 1996. She earned her masters degree in education from Southwest State University in 2003. She currently teaches photography, yearbook and drawing at SHS. Heckman also owns a photography studio in Rice, AJHeckman Photography. She lives in Sartell with her husband, Josh, and 3 children. Heckman started as a freelance photographer for the Newsleaders in 2015.

Lauer is a lifetime resident of the St. Joseph area. He operates a small farm and also drives bus for the Sartell-St. Stephen School District. Lauer has worked with the Newsleaders for 20 years.

Dennis Dalman

Dalman was born and raised in South St. Cloud, graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School, then graduated from St. Cloud State University with a degree in English (emphasis on American and British literature) and mass communications (emphasis on print journalism). He studied in London, England for a year (1980-81) where he concentrated on British literature, political science, the history of Great Britain and wrote a book-length study of the British writer V.S. Naipaul. Dalman has been a reporter and weekly columnist for more than 30 years and worked for 16 of those years for the Alexandria Echo Press.

Logan Gruber

Operations Manager/Asssignment Editor

Gruber is the operations manager and a reporter for the Newsleaders. He grew up in Melrose, attended St. John’s University, spent over a year teaching English in China, and most recently worked as the morning producer at WDIO-TV in Duluth, where he won a 2014 Upper Midwest Emmy for daytime newscasts. Gruber has worked for the Newsleaders since 2014. He enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with his wife, Jeni, and their newborn daughter, Lucy, at their home in Sartell. Hilsgen is a reporter for the Newsleaders. The central Minnesota native is a wife, mother and grandmother. She has a B.A. degree from Concordia University – St. Paul and enjoys learning about and sharing other peoples’ stories through the pages of the Newsleaders.

Born in Willmar, Wright moved with his family to Sartell when he was 5 and graduated high school in 2006. He attended St. Cloud State University in 2007 studying Mass Communication and Radio Broadcasting. Wright’s interest in news and reporting started at KVSC as an on-air DJ and continued at WJON as an interim reporter. Wright has worked for the Newsleaders since 2015. When he gets time away from writing and studying, Wright enjoys playing and teaching guitar and playing with his favorite K9, Louie.

Hartung is originally from Holdingford, and now resides in St. Joseph with his wife and five children. He is the manager of the Casey’s General Store in St. Joseph. Hartung has worked with the Newsleaders since 2013.
