Joetown Snowtown draws some families

It was a sunny and crisp Minnesota day at Centennial Park last weekend in St. Joseph. Temperatures neared the 20s and a towering sledding hill was in full use by those attending Joetown Snowtown.

This was the first year the St. Joseph Park Board hosted the winter event in partnership with local sponsors. Those who came were glad they did. Park Board Chair John Anderson was pleased with the weather during the event.

Richason named statewide social-studies ‘Teacher of Year’

Social studies and education are practically birthrights for Jen Richason, Sartell Middle School teacher who was recently honored with the Minnesota Middle School Social Studies Teacher of the Year.

Richason’s father, Ben, is a geography teacher at St. Cloud State University. Her grandfather, whose name was also Ben, taught geography at Carrol College in Waukesha, Wis. Richason’s mother, Barb, has been a paraprofessional in the St. Cloud School District.
